The Winter Solstice marks a definite point in the movement of Light. It is the moment when the inward activity of Light has reached its completion and the outward movement begins. From this point forward, the increase of Light is assured by cosmic law. It may be gradual, but the direction has been set.

Light does not cease during the inward phase. It gathers, concentrates, and reorganizes itself in preparation for renewed expression. What appears as stillness is not absence of activity, but a change in direction. Life is never idle; it moves according to rhythm.

This rhythmic law governs all manifestation. There is a time when energy is drawn inward to establish pattern and order, and a time when that same energy moves outward to express what has been prepared. The Solstice signifies the completion of the inward cycle and the beginning of the outward one.

Walter Russell described this universal action as the breath of creation: an in-breath of gathering followed by an out-breath of expression. Neither phase is superior to the other. Both are necessary. Yet once the outward movement begins, expression is inevitable.

This same law applies within the consciousness of man. There are periods when attention is drawn inward for adjustment, clarification, and reordering. When that activity has fulfilled its purpose, life naturally seeks expression. Nothing needs to be forced. Release follows preparation.

The only requirement is alignment of attention. Where attention is held, consciousness abides. Where consciousness abides, life must act.

The Solstice is a reminder of this law. The Light has turned. The outward movement has begun. What has been prepared inwardly will now seek form and visibility in the world of experience.

Remain attentive to the direction of Life. Allow the increase of Light to proceed according to its own perfect rhythm.

A Practical Application

Understanding rhythm is of value only when it is consciously used.

The Solstice marks the beginning of the outward movement of Light, which will continue to increase until the Summer Solstice on June 21. This six-month period is a natural cycle of expansion and expression, governed by law rather than effort.

Choose one desire, one quality, or one condition you wish to bring into fuller manifestation during this cycle. Do not choose many. Rhythm requires unity of focus.

Sit quietly for a few moments and acknowledge that life has already been active within you, gathering and preparing according to its own intelligence, whether or not you were aware of it. Hold the consciousness that the direction has now turned and that expression is the lawful next step.

Each day, rest your attention briefly on this one chosen focus, not with strain, but with certainty. Feel the outward movement of Life carrying it toward visibility as naturally as the Light increases day by day.

Remain faithful to this rhythm through the coming months. What has been gathered inwardly will release itself outwardly according to perfect order.

The Light has turned; let all that has been prepared inwardly now move outward into expression.
