I thought today I share a few quick thoughts on how we can remember our dreams.
But to begin with, why should we try to remember our dreams?
Dr Joshua David Stone compared dreams to some sort of newspaper we receive every night, or every morning, depicting the organization and dynamics of our inner energies.
Said another way: dreams are an invaluable feedback system. They give us feedback with regards to our thinking, our feeling, our doing, our motives, our everything.
So when we start working with our dreams and learn to interpret them, we can actually work on ourselves, improve ourselves and grow. Dreams often make us aware of patterns we are not conscious of, they give us guidance and support in order for us to advance on our Spiritual path, become more Godlike in the way we express ourselves etc.
Now, there are a million things we could talk about when talking about dreams, where do they come from, how can we properly interpret them, and on and on.
The purpose of this blog here is not to talk about all these things because you can’t do that in five minutes, so I thought to begin with, today I just give you a few quick tips to help you remember your dreams, because before you can start to work with them, interpret them and so forth, you need to remember them, right?
So here are some quick tips on how to help you remember your dreams:
Make a conscious decision to remember your dreams and to work with them. The moment you commit to working with your dreams, your dreams will commit to working with you. So when you go to bed at night, tell yourself that tonight you are going to remember your dreams. Make a decision and expect a dream. That really works.
Fall asleep with a question on your mind. You will be amazed at what comes through. You will have ideas, inspirations, insights, the answers to your questions coming to you in the form of dreams. So if something is bugging you and you don’t know how to resolve it right now, fall asleep asking Spirit or the universe to give you some specific guidance as to how to proceed. And expect the universe to communicate with you in form of a dream. In reality, Spirit communicates with us every moment of our lives, through everyone and everything, but look for the answer to your questions in your dreams. If you expect it, it will happen.
Drink a large glass of water before going to sleep. When I do that, I have to get up at night to go to the bathroom, and I almost always remember a dream when I wake up during the night.
If you use an alarm clock to wake yourself up, put a post-it on your alarm-clock that says something like, “What did you dream tonight?” When you turn off the alarm, this question will be the first thought on your mind which is a great way to help you remember your dreams. So when you see the question, close your eyes again and try to get back into your last dream.
So these are just a few quick tips. Again, there is obviously much more to dreams, but that’s a start.
Also, be sure to keep a note pad next to your bed. I actually have it on my bed, right next to my head so I can start writing down any dreams I have in half-sleep mode. I actually barely open my eyes when I wake up from a dream because I have made the experience that I can remember my dreams much better if I don’t open my eyes and fully wake myself up by opening my eyes. So be sure to prepare a notepad and a pen and don’t fully open your eyes when you remember a dream and write it down.
