A few days ago one of our wonderful newsletter subscribers asked about the I AM University’s view of forgiveness when it comes to criminals, murderers and so forth. Since someone else asked the same question recently, I thought it could be a valuable idea to share a few thoughts on the subject.
So, do murderers, do criminals deserve our forgiveness?
The short answer is: Yes! There are no exceptions. Everyone deserves forgiveness.
Our Creator does not forgive some, and others not.
We are all Sons and Daughters of the Divine Spirit, we are all extensions of Source – without exception.
We are not our thoughts, our mistakes, our behavior, or our actions. We are expressions of Divinity. However, we are all also in the process of realizing the Divinity of our Spirit. And as we go through this process of realizing our Divinity and oneness with all life, we all – without exception – make the mistake of choosing fear over love, or separation over oneness.
So what requires forgiveness is our choosing fear over love.
Said another way: everything that anyone could ever possibly do – that may require forgiveness – is an expression of fear. And fear is a call for love. It is a call for help.
So people who, for example, commit crimes, small or large, are in truth asking for help because they have chosen fear, or separation, over love, or oneness. That’s why they thought they have to attack. Only fearful people attack.
Now, choosing illusion over truth does not make them less Divine. It just means that they are still caught up in the illusion of being separate from Source and one another, and that for that very reason they still believe, for example, that giving is losing and taking is gaining, etc. So what they need is not our judgement, or denial of forgiveness, what they need is love. What they need is help with transcending their fears and stepping out of the illusion of separation.
So when we deny anyone our forgiveness, it only means that we do not understand their call for love and that we do not understand what love is; that love is just another word for oneness, and that we will never realize our own onenesss with all life until everyone returns Home.
To return “home” means to return our fear-based mind to love.
So if we deny anyone our forgiveness, it just means that we live in fear ourselves and that we don’t know what love is.
So, everyone deserves our forgiveness. Evil is just an extreme expression of fear, and fear is a call for love.
Everyone in this world experiences fear. In truth, we are all crying out for love, and that applies to everyone – including all the crimials and murderers who are sitting in jail right now. What they need is not our judgment and damnation, what they need and what WE need is love, forgiveness and prayer.
Think about it. I hope I could be of service to you. Have a great day. Bye.
